Little Pieces of Me

Ain’t no Mountain High Enough 152 x 152cm mixed media on canvas

Ain’t No Mountain High Enough 2017 acrylic and mixed media on canvas, 152 x 152cm (for auction)

Gallows Gallery, Australia

2-10 February 2018

My first solo exhibition in Perth was inspired by, and supported, children and their families who suffer the effects of Osteogenesis Imperfecta (O.I.), otherwise known as brittle bones.

10% of sales from this exhibition and my online sales (from 3 Feb) plus all proceeds from an auction on opening night helped to raise over $5000 to go towards the establishment of an ‘integrated care facility’ dedicated to O.I. at Princess Margaret Hospital.

Little Pieces of Me is a series of paintings that aims to be inherently uplifting; imbued with positive, colourful energy for people who are affected by illness.

With a background in physiotherapy I sense how much scientific research and creativity have many synergies. Great discoveries can only be made through trial and error and frequently through unexpected mistakes or wrong turns. I also draw on the crazy, wonderful imagination expressed by Lewis Carroll in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.

The paintings in Little Pieces of Me are vibrant yet thoughtful, often contemplating the wonder of life at the same time as its fragility.
